Crash Between Pickup Truck and Log Truck Kills Silver Creek Woman and Injured One

November 16, 2018

CEDAR BLUFF, GA- reports that a crash involving three vehicles killed one woman and severely injured another person on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. The crash took place at about 5:45 in the evening when Gordon Kilgore, 78, drove his pickup truck into the rear of a loaded log truck. Helen Kilgore, the driver’s wife, was a passenger in the truck. She died at the scene of the crash from blunt force trauma. The report indicated that Helen Kilgore had her seatbelt on at the time of the crash.

Gordon Kilgore was taken to the Redmond Regional Medical Center for treatment. The man driving the logging truck, 48-year-old, Rodger Edgeworth, were thankfully not injured in the crash, according to reports. Another driver, Patricia Scott, 39, of Cartersville was also involved in the crash, but she also reportedly did not sustain any injuries.

The collision closed down the roadway while investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash and while the debris and vehicles were removed from the road.

Rear-end collisions are some of the more commontypes of accidents in the United States. Many of these crashes are extremely serious causing injuries or fatalities. Fortunately, newer vehicle technology is making these crashes far less likely, at least for drivers who have the systems in their vehicles.

Research has shown that vehicles that have the ability to brake themselves make rear-end crashes far less likely. Even technology that alerts a driver when he or she is getting too close to another vehicle or object has shown success in reducing crashes. This is likely because most ofthese accidents happen because the driver is not paying attention to the road.
