Wreck on I-75 Slows Traffic in Henry County, Georgia

HENRY COUNTY, GA. – November 7, 2018 - According to an online news report from myajc.com, a wreck on Interstate 75 slowed traffic November 7 in Henry County, Georgia. Little is known about the accident at this time.*

The wreck occurred in the morning on November 7 on I-75 South at Hudson Bridge Road in Henry County. Delays were reported back to Interstate 675 in Henry County. It is not clear how many vehicles or people were involved, and no information was reported about the cause of the accident. Injuries were also not reported. Henry County authorities are investigating and have not released additional information at this time. 

Henry County is located in the north-central portion of the state of Georgia and has an estimated population of approximately 226,000. The county was named after Patrick Henry, and its county seat is McDonough. Its major roadways include Interstate 75, Interstate 675, U.S. Route 19, U.S. Route 23, and U.S. Route 41.

The Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway safety gathered data on vehicle accidents in Henry County between the years 2012 and 2016. The county saw a steady increase in vehicle accidents during these years. In 2012, a total of 4,332 vehicle accidents occurred in the county, leading to 1,192 injuries and 23 deaths. These numbers increased the following two years — 4,937 accidents in 2013 with 1,237 injuries and 26 deaths, and 5,321 accidents in 2014 with 1,340 injuries and 26 deaths.

In 2015, accidents in Henry County again saw a major jump, increasing to 6,872 overall accidents, which led to 1,748 injuries and 29 deaths. These numbers rose again in 2016, bringing the total accidents to 8,794, resulting in 2,245 injuries and 26 deaths.
