Two Men Killed in Drunk Driving Accident in Macon County, Georgia

MACON COUNTY, GA. – November 6, 2018 - Two men were killed in a drunk driving accident November 3 in Macon County, Georgia, according to an online news report from*

At approximately 2 p.m. on November 3, 52-year-old David Hannah and 29-year-old Corbin Davis were traveling in a vehicle together on Route 128 in Macon County. Near mile marker 16, a vehicle crossed the centerline of the roadway and struck Hannah and Davis’s vehicle head-on. 

Davis died at the scene. Hannah was airlifted to the Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon, where he later died of his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, 41-year-old Joshua Parkerson, was also transported to the Medical Center, Navicent Health via ambulance with minor injuries. 

Parkerson was released from the hospital and arrested on charges of driving under the influence, failure to maintain a lane, seat belt violation, and two counts of first-degree vehicular homicide. Georgia State Patrol and Macon County officials are continuing to investigate and have not released additional information at this time. 

According to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, 145 vehicle accidents occurred in Macon County during 2016. These accidents resulted in injuries to 56 people and in the deaths of two people. 

Throughout the five-year period between 2012 and 2016, the county saw a varying number of accidents. In 2012, the total number of accidents was 190, and that number jumped to 225 the following year. However, in 2014, the number of accidents dropped to 169, then fell again in 2015 to 90 total accidents. By 2016, the number had again grown to more than 100. On average, annual accidents in the county led to about 50 injuries and about four deaths.
