Cincinnati Reds Player Dies in Car Accident; Two Others Seriously Injured
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – November 3, 2018 (yardbarker.com) According to an online report from yarbarker.com, one Cincinnati Reds baseball player died and two others were injured November 3 in a car accident in the Dominican Republic.*
It is not yet clear how the accident occurred. Reds minor league right-hander Jairo Capellan, 19, died in the wreck, and right-hander Raul Hernandez, 19, and outfielder Emilio Garcia, 19, were seriously injured. Reports indicate Garcia is currently in stable condition, while Hernandez is still in critical condition.
Reds CEO Bob Castellini said the following in a statement: “We received this terrible news and send our condolences and support to the families, friends, and teammates of Jaro, Raul, and Emilio. Our Dominican operations are an integral part of the Reds organization, and this tragedy affects us all. We will remain closely involved to help everyone through this difficult time.”

The rates also ranged from 0.66 deaths per every 100 million miles traveled in Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Rhode Island, to 1.88 deaths per every 100 million miles traveled in South Carolina.
