On October 27, Paul Penamon was visiting Georgia from New Jersey and was planning to fly back home around 9 a.m. that day. About three hours before he was to fly out, he was involved in a head-on vehicle collision on Highway 166 in Douglas County, Georgia. The other driver crossed the centerline for some reason and struck Penamon’s car, causing him to suffer a broken femur, collapsed lung, and five broken ribs.

The driver of the other car has not been identified, and his or her current medical condition is not known. It is not yet clear why the car crossed the center line.

Penamon’s nephew had been driving a car in front of him and stopped after the crash occurred. They saw a man at the scene who witnessed the crash but who left before speaking to investigators. Penamon is hoping this man will come forward and speak to police about what he saw. The information could help investigators piece together what happened that morning.
