Woman Arrested After Attempting to Flee Accident in Calhoun, Georgia

CALHOUN, GA. – October 24, 2018 ( A woman was arrested October 16 after attempting to flee the scene of a car crash in Calhoun, Georgia, according to an online news report from*

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on October 16, 34-year-old Megan Bowling, of Dallas, Georgia, was driving on Ga. 53 in Calhoun and was involved in a car accident at the highway’s intersection with Curtis Parkway. After the crash, Bowling attempted to flee the scene, driving north on Curtis Parkway. However, due to the damage her vehicle had sustained, she was not able to drive far and crashed a second time at the intersection of Curtis Parkway and Peters Street. 

Bowling was arrested and booked into the Gordon County Jail, where she was later released on bond. She has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving too fast for conditions, and failure to maintain a lane. It is not clear how the initial crash occurred or whether anyone was injured. No additional information has been reported at this time. 

Gordon County is located in the northwest corner of the state of Georgia. The county has an estimated population of about 57,000, and its major roadways include Interstate 75, U.S. Route 41, and U.S. Route 411. 

According to data collected by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, vehicle accidents in Gordon County have been on the rise. In 2012, 1,338 vehicle accidents occurred in the county, resulting in injuries to 378 people and the deaths of 12 people. Accident figures rose steadily during the next four years. In 2016, a total of 1,806 vehicle accidents occurred in the county, leading to 495 injuries and 13 deaths.
