October 25, 2018

TROUP COUNTY, GA. – October 18, 2018 (lagrangenews.com) The Troup County High School airlifted after a vehicle accident near the school October 12 has been released from the hospital, according to an online news report from lagrangenews.com.*

Shortly after 8 a.m. on October 12, a Honda Accord failed to yield on Hamilton Road in front of the high school and turned into the path of a Chevrolet Silverado. Three students were in the Honda, none of whom has been identified. One of the students was airlifted to a nearby hospital with a head injury. The student has now been discharged upon making a full recovery. LaGrange Police said the student was airlifted out of an abundance of caution but was found to have sustained only minor injuries when he arrived at the hospital.

The other two students and the driver of the Chevy, a 49-year-old adult, were transported to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. They have also been released since the day of the crash.

Lagrange Police Department Lt. Mark Kostial said the driver of the Honda, a 16-year-old student, had a learner’s license. The driver was charged with failure to yield and violation of class CP limited driving permit. Part of Hamilton Road was closed following the accident to allow crews to clear the scene.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States.
