Three Victims Identified in Fatal Missouri Trolley Accident

October 25, 2018

HERMANN, MO. – October 22, 2018 (columbiamissourian.com) Three of the victims of a fatal trolley accident that took place October 20 in Hermann, Missouri, have now been identified. The story is reported online at columbiamissourian.com.*

Hermann is situated near several Missouri wineries and offers trolley rides for winery-goers for a small fee per person. On October 20, the trolley service, called Hermann Trolley, saw its first accident in its nine years of operation.

Missouri State Highway Patrol says Hermann resident Paula Heidemann was driving her vehicle and attempted to turn when she was struck by an eastbound trolley. It is not yet clear how exactly the crash occurred.

Heidemann sadly died at the scene. Two children in the car with her, an 8-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl, both of Pacific, Missouri, were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. They have not been identified, and their current medical conditions are not known.

It is not clear how many people were riding the trolley at the time, but seven of the passengers reportedly sustained minor to moderate injuries. Reports now identify two of the injured trolley passengers as 24-year-old Savannah Everett, of Columbia, Missouri, and 25-year-old Emily Wright, also of Columbia. Both women were transported to Hermann Area District Hospital after the crash. Everett was admitted for observation and released on October 21, but Wright’s condition is not known.

No additional information has been reported about the other trolley passengers. The driver of the trolley has still not been identified. State and local authorities are investigating the accident and have not released additional information at this time. It is not clear whether any legal action will be taken in connection to the accident.
