Pilot Killed When Plane Crashes in Paulding County, Georgia

PAULDING COUNTY, GA. – October 13, 2018 ( A pilot, Paul Lewis Deep, from Middleburg, Florida, died during a plane crash that occurred October 13 in Paulding County, Georgia, according to an online news report from*

The single-engine plane was reportedly flying from Gainesville, Florida, to Calhoun, Georgia, and crashed on Lucas Lane in Paulding County, near the Bartow County line. The aviation accident occurred just before 5:30 p.m., and the pilot was the only person on board the plane when it crashed. The pilot’s identity has not been released at this time. 

It is not yet clear how the crash occurred. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are conducting an investigation into the incident and have not provided additional information to the public at this time. 

The crash becomes one of several deadly plane crashes to occur in Georgia recently. On August 25, a plane crash in Emanuel County, Georgia, left four people dead and one seriously injured. Five people aboard a Cessna 182A had just taken off for a skydiving lesson. The plane, owned by Statesboro, Georgia, skydiving company Jump Place, crashed at the East Georgia Regional Airport and burst into flames. 

The lone survivor of the crash, William Brooks, sustained critical injuries and was transported to Augusta University Medical Center. The Emanuel County Coroner identified the four victims as 23-year-old Andrew Swenson, of South Daytona Beach, Florida; 31-year-old Aliaksandr Bahrytsevich, of Raeford, North Carolina; 42-year-old Justin Duff, of Statesboro; and 42-year-old Chris Eldridge, of Rincon, Georgia. Bahrytsevich, a native of Belarus, was a member of the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute team.
