Wreck on Highway 25 in Burke County, GA, Leaves 7 Injured

BURKE COUNTY, GA. – October 10, 2018 ( A vehicle wreck October 10 on Highway 25 in Burke County, Georgia, left seven people injured, according to an online news story from*

The accident occurred during the afternoon on October 10 at the intersection of Highway 25 and Childress Road in Burke County. Reports indicate an SUV pulled into oncoming traffic at the intersection and was struck by another SUV. Seven people were reportedly injured, and one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles. Additional details about the cause and circumstances of the accident were not reported. 

Three ambulances transported the injured persons to nearby hospitals for treatment. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office reported that none of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening. None of the victims has been identified at this time. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Burke County Fire and Rescue, Burke County EMS, and Georgia State Patrol responded to the accident. The collision is still under investigation, and no additional information has been released at this time.

Burke County is located on the eastern border of the state of Georgia. Geographically, it is one of the largest counties in the state, but it has a small population for its size: approximately 22,500. A total of 371 vehicle accidents occurred in Burke County in 2015, according to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. These accidents resulted in 137 injuries and three deaths. 

The following year, accident numbers climbed significantly. A total of 661 accidents occurred in the county in 2016, resulting in 150 injuries and eight deaths. Half of the fatal accidents that year were related to alcohol.
