Georgia Woman Killed in a Tontitown, Arkansas Accident

October 12, 2018

TONTITOWN, Ark. — A three-vehicle crash killed a 21-year-old woman from Toccoa Falls, Ga. The wreck happened on Thursday, October 4, 2018, around 9:40 p.m. according to nwahomepage.com. Arkansas state police are investigating the fatal crash.*

Arkansas State Police troopers told the media that Emily Astrid Adams, 21, of Toccoa Falls, Ga. received fatal injuries when her car collided with at least two others on U.S. Highway 412, which is also known as West Henri De Toni Boulevard. Ms. Adams drove west on West Henri De Toni Boulevard when she suddenly drove into the center turn lane and intothe lanes headed east. Ms. Adams collided with a 2017 Hyundai Tucson SUV. Ms. Adams’ vehicle struck the Tucson on the driver’s rear quarter. Then, a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup slammed into Ms. Adams’ vehicle on the passenger side.

There were four occupants of the Nissan Titan: two adults and two children. All four required transport to Mercy Hospital Northwest. The injuries they suffered and the severity of them were not releasedin the initial police reports. There was no information regarding the status of the driver of the Tucson and the occupants of that vehicle.

Investigators will look into the reasons why Ms. Adams drove into on-coming traffic. They might never be able to determine what happened. Arkansas State Police responders said that the conditions were clear and the roadway wasdry at the time of the crash. Whenever a motorist drives into on-coming traffic, distraction, impairment, or a sudden health issue become the suspected causes.

Anytime a driver averts his or her eyes from the road, the driver might think that the car is going straight. In reality, the car can drift into another lane without the driver sensing that the car is drifting. A collision can happen before the driver can recover.
