At approximately 7 a.m. on October 5, 51-year-old Carvin Cleveland Hill, of Macon, was attempting to cross Broadway Street at the intersection with Houston Road. Deputies say Hill was walking east and stepped in front of a northbound Dodge Ram pickup truck that was turning onto Broadway from Houston.

Hill died at the scene. Officials said Hill had been living at a nearby motel, the Magnolia Court Motel on Broadway.

The pickup driver’s name was not released in earlier reports, but he has now been identified as 49-year-old Joey Warren, of Warner Robins, Georgia. It is not clear whether any charges will be filed against Warren. The office advises to stop before crossing the street and look left, right, then left again before crossing any street. Children should also never be allowed to play in the street, the office says.
