New Traffic Light in Grovetown, GA, Should Ease Traffic Congestion

October 10, 2018

GROVETOWN, GA. – October 4, 2018 ( A new traffic light in Grovetown, Georgia, should ease traffic congestion for commuters, according to an online news report from*

For years, traffic in Grovetown has been congested around the area of Robinson Avenue and Katherine Street. Ongoing construction projects have caused significant traffic delays for daily commuters, like Deena Youngblood. Youngblood, who has lived in Grovetown for more than 20 years, says the area of road has been causing her problems for a long time.

“Oh gosh, it’s so crazy,” Youngblood said. “It’s frustrating some mornings because I’m a nice driver, I will let people out, but people behind me will be blowing horns.”

Grovetown and surrounding communities have been growing, which means more people on the roads every day and more traffic throughout town, especially for those traveling toward Fort Gordon. Traffic was usually affected from Wrightsboro Road to Gordon Highway.

“I would say [traffic] adds — if you’re going [on] Robinson all the way to Fort Gordon — you’re probably adding a good 15 to 20 minutes to your commute every day,” Youngblood said. “And that’s if you don’t have a minor traffic accident.”

After 16 months of delays, there is now a light at the corner of Robinson and Katherine, which will help traffic flow more smoothly. The light comes as a welcome addition for people like Youngblood.

“I’m just glad,” she said. “I’m so happy we have the light. I’m going to feel better in the mornings when I can at least know that I’m going to go from red to green and not just have to sit there indefinitely.”
