Georgia Industrial Worker Struck by Semi-Truck in Company Parking Lot

October 09, 2018

OAKWOOD, GA. – October 4, 2018 (11alive.com) An industrial worker was struck and killed October 3 by a semi-truck in his company’s parking lot in Oakwood, Georgia, according to an online news report from 11alive.com.*

At approximately 2 a.m. on October 3, Primex Plastics worker Kameran Lamar Adams, 39, was walking through the parking lot of the company on Old Oakwood Road. A report filed by the Oakwood Police Department says a semi-truck driving through the parking lot struck Adams. The truck driver said he heard a bump and thought it was a drop in the pavement. Surveillance footage from the site shows the driver backed up and struck Adams a second time before stopping the truck.

The driver, who has not been identified, reportedly told police he stopped the truck as soon as he realized he had hit a person. He checked in Adams, who was reportedly gasping for air at the time, and called 911. He also went to tell personnel at the plant what happened. Officers noted that the driver was visibly shaken when they arrived and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They noted Adams was walking in the middle of the poorly lit parking lot without reflective gear. Earbuds and ear protection were found lying next to Adams.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and have not yet released additional information. It does not appear at this time that the truck driver will face charges. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will also conduct an investigation into the workplace accident
