Crash on Interstate 10 Causes Injuries to Moultrie Woman

September 30, 2018

TALLAHASSEE, FL - reports that a woman from Georgia sustained minor injuries in a crash that took place on Interstate 10 on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. The Florida State Patrol stated that the collision took place at about 4:45 in the afternoon in Leon County.*

Reports indicate that Emin Koso, 47, of St. Louis, Missouri was traveling eastbound when he struck a Chevrolet Astro. Charlette Ann Jennings, 45 of Moultrie, Georgia suffered injuries in the crash. A passenger traveling with Jennings was not hurt in the collision

Koso also did not sustain any injuries in the crash. Police charged Koso with careless driving for rear-ending Jennings’ vehicle.

Jennings also received a citation because she was unable to prove proof on car insurance.

Rear-end collisions are extremely common. These accidents occur in the United States about 1.7 million times every year. While many of these accidents are fairly minor, others are serious and even deadly. An average of around 17,000 people die in rear-end crashes, andanother 500,000 are injured.

Technology is one of the best ways to prevent these crashes. Collision avoidance systems could be included in all new vehicles. This technology, which already exists and comes in some vehicles, could prevent around 80 percent of all rear-end deaths and injuries. The systems that brake automatically are the most effective. The vast majority of rear-end crashes are the result of a driver not paying attention to the road. About 87 percent of rear-end accidents are the result of inattentive drivers. One of the leading causes of driver distraction is cell phones or smartphones. These devices contribute to a large number of traffic accidents.
