Tuesday Evening Crash on Interstate 475 Sends Two to Hospital

September 29, 2018

BIBB COUNTY- According to 13wmaz.com writes that two people were injured in a car crash on Interstate 475 on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. The collision took place in the northbound lanes at  about four in the afternoon.*

The crash took place when Andre Johnson, 31, attempted to change lanes and lost control of his vehicle.

Johnson’s vehicle drove into a truck before striking a concrete retaining wall and overturning. Corey Middleton, 29, was a passenger in Johnson’s vehicle during the rollover collision. Middleton sustained injuries in the wreck. Johnson was also injured, andhe and Middleton were both taken to a local hospital for treatment. Both victims were listed as being in stable condition.

The driver of the truck, Zachary Schwartz, 24, suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the collision. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash h.

Lane changes lead to a large number of crashes, and the crashes resulting from lane changes are often serious and lead to fatalities or severe injuries. One reason why reason lane chances cause so many vehicle collisions is that theyoccur frequently. Most drivers change lanes multiple times every day. Another factor that makes lane changes dangerous is blind spots. Drivers often start to change lanes without seeing another vehicle behind them.

In order to avoid these collisions, drivers are always advised to signal, “lean and look” when changing (do not just rely on mirrors), Adjust mirrors before driving and make sure they are clean, not to follow other vehicles too closely. Many lane change accidents occur when a driver tries to switch lanes rapidly to avoid a collision with a vehicle that slows down in front of them.
