September 29, 2018

FORT OGLETHORPE- The northwestgeorgianews.com reports that a Ringgoldman who allegedly hit another vehicle and fled the scene has been arrested and is now facing charges. On September 10, 2018, police arrested the driver, 25-year-old Keiser Allen Ruehl of Lori Lane.*

A woman reported that her vehicle was rear-ended at the intersection of Dietz Road and Battlefield Parkway by a driver who subsequently fled the scene of the crash. The driver reportedly went to the woman’s car window to check is she was injured, and then got back into his truck and drove awayfrom the scene.

The woman told police that she thought that she knew the other driver from school and believed that his name was Keiser. The driver who was rear-ended and a friend from school wereable to find the hit-and-run driver using Facebook. By looking at photographs on the social media site, the woman could identify the offender. It seems that the victim and the suspect had gone to school together.

Officers went to Ruehl’s home and found his truck, which had been damaged in the crash. The damage on the suspect’s vehicle matched the damage found on the vehicle his truck struck. The suspect and his parents both maintained that he could not have crashed into the other vehicle because he had been in his home for an hour. Ruehl said he was not aware of the damage to his truck and that he sisnot know whether the damage was new.

Because of the victim’s ability to identify the suspect, and the damage to the vehicle, police arrested Ruehl and charged him with “leaving the scene of an accident/hit-and-run.”
