Quick Reaction By Police Officer Saves Woman’s Life in Anna, Texas

September 28, 2018

ANNA, Texas — The video taken by a police officer’s dashboard camera showed the officer react quickly to a life-threatening situation and save a woman’s life, as well as his own. The quick-witted officer remained calm as he consoled the distraught woman whom he just pulled to safety. reports that the incident occurred in Anna, Texas on September 7, 2018, sometime in the afternoon.*

Anna police officer Brandon Blair’s quick reaction got him and the woman he was assisting out of harm's way. Officer Blair's dashboard camera depicts the officer speaking with a woman outside of her car. She had crashed her car while trying to negotiate an uphill turn on a country road. The woman's car went off the road to the left and crashed into some trees which lined the opposite lane of travel. The video recording next shows a pickup truck trying to negotiate the same corner. However, the driver of the pickup loses control over the vehicle and goes into a slide. The pickup is heading right for Officer Blair and the driver of the other car.

Within a split second, Officer Blair grabbed the woman and ran off the side of the road, away from the skidding truck. Had Officer Blair not noticed the truck sliding or recognized what was about to happen, the pickup would have crushed the woman and the officer up against the woman's car. The video shows the pickup continuing to skid and then collide with the woman’s vehicle.

The video then shows Officer Blair use his radio, most likely to call for further assistance and comfort the badly-shaken woman as well.

Anna Police did not say why either car slid off of the road at that particular point. The road does make a sharp turn, and the road appears to be very wet from the rain. Therefore, the combination of these factors most likely caused both vehicles to lose traction in the same spot on the road.
