September 24, 2018

PAVO, GA. – September 18, 2018 (walb.com) A single-vehicle accident September 18 in Pavo, Georgia, killed the driver and left two passengers injured, according to an online news story from walb.com. Troopers with Georgia State Patrol suspect the driver fell asleep at the wheel.*

At approximately 7 a.m. on September 18, 22-year-old Davey Davis was driving on Highway 33. He and two passengers in his vehicle, Freddie Gabriel and T’Miran Marble, had just finished a 12-hour overnight shift at Sunshine Farms. Davis was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to Georgia State Patrol. At a curve in the roadway, Davis kept traveling straight, ran off the road, hit a culvert driveway exit and went airborne, then crashed into two trees.

Davis tragically died at the scene. Gabriel and Marble were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Georgia State Patrol reports they are both in stable condition and expected to make full recoveries. The two men told authorities that Davis was exhausted at work and had been nearly falling asleep on the job. Troopers suspect he might have fallen asleep at the wheel prior to the crash.

The Thomas County Coroner is performing an autopsy, which could shed light on the cause of the accident. Georgia State Patrol is continuing to investigate and has not provided additional details to the public at this time.
