Officials Identify Three People Killed in Head-On Collision in Hawkinsville, GA

HAWKINSVILLE, GA. – September 17, 2018 (13wmaz.com) Officials have identified the three people killed in a head-on vehicle collision September 15 in Hawkinsville, Georgia, according to an online news article from 13wmaz.com.*

The crash occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on September 15 on Highway 27 in Hawkinsville. A 2017 Ford Transit truck reportedly collided head-on with a Hino box truck. Georgia State Patrol says the details about how the crash occurred are not yet clear. 

Three people riding in the Ford truck died on the scene, according to the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office. They have been identified as Brian Ricker, Jeffrey Stites, and Jake Sapp. Sapp was 18 years old and had just graduated from South Effingham High School in May. The ages of the others were not reported. Ricker was the owner of Clean Duct LLC in Rincon, Georgia, and Stites and Sapp were employees of the company. The three were traveling to a job site in Albany at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Hino truck, Alton Soles, of Jacksonville, was injured in the crash and transported to Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia. The extent of his injuries and his current medical condition are not known. Georgia State Patrol is investigating and has not yet released any additional information. 

According to data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, in 2016, Georgia’s roads saw a rate of fatal vehicle crashes higher than the national average. The state had a fatality accident rate of 15.1 deaths per every 100,000 people in 2016 and 1.29 deaths per every 100 million miles traveled.
