Authorities Continuing to Investigate Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Peachtree City

PEACHTREE CITY, GA. – September 14, 2018 ( Authorities in Peachtree City, Georgia, are continuing to investigate a hit-and-run pedestrian accident that occurred September 13 and claimed the life of a teenager. According to an online news report from, it now appears the teen crashed a golf cart before being hit by a vehicle.*

At approximately 11:20 p.m. on September 13, a 17-year-old male was found lying along the southbound lanes of Highway 74, just north of Paschal Road in Peachtree City. He had injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Authorities began investigating the case as a hit-and-run fatality. 

According to newly released reports, the family of the teenager found a crashed golf cart near the area where he had been found. The cart was in a grassy patch off of the road directly across from where the teen was found. The cart had no significant damage. Peachtree City Police now believe the teen was involved in some kind of accident while riding on the golf cart, but they do not know how he ended up in the road or what circumstances ultimately caused his death. The teen has been identified, but his name is withheld from this article for privacy reasons. 

“We are desperately asking for assistance from anyone who saw the golf cart accident or how he ended up in the roadway,” said Peach Tree City Police spokesperson Odelia Berg. Information can be called into (770) 461-4357 or texted to PTCTIPS.  

Peachtree City is located in Fayette County in the north-central portion of the state of Georgia. It has a population of approximately 112,500, and its major roadways include State Route 54, State Route 74, State Route 138, and State Route 314.
