Three Killed in Head-On Collision in Hawkinsville, Georgia

HAWKINSVILLE, GA. – September 15, 2018 (13wmaz.com) A head-on vehicle collision September 15 in Hawkinsville, Georgia, led to the deaths of three people, according to an online news article from 13wmaz.com.*

The crash occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on September 15 on Highway 27 in Hawkinsville. A 2017 Ford Transit truck reportedly collided head-on with a Hino box truck. Georgia State Patrol says the details about how the crash occurred are not yet clear. 

Three people riding in the Ford truck died on the scene, according to the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office. None of these people have been identified at this time. The driver of the Hino truck, Alton Soles, of Jacksonville, was injured in the crash and transported to Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia. The extent of his injuries and his current medical condition are not known. Georgia State Patrol is investigating and has not yet released any additional information. 

According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States has the highest rate of vehicle crash deaths among high-income countries in the world. The fatal crash rates in the U.S. are highest when measured both by population (10.3 deaths per every 100,000 people) and by registered vehicles ( 1.24 deaths per every 10,000 registered vehicles). The U.S. also has the fifth-highest rate of motor vehicle deaths based on miles traveled (1.10 deaths per every 100 million miles traveled). 

Head-on vehicle collisions represent a small number of the accidents that occur every year in the United States, but they account for a larger percentage of traffic deaths in the country. About 2 percent of all the accidents in the U.S. involve head-on collisions, but these types of accidents cause approximately 10 percent of the nation’s crash-related deaths.
