Georgia Woman Involved in Michigan Vehicle Accident

HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI. – September 12, 2018 (hillsdale.net) A woman from Georgia was involved in an accident September 10 in Michigan that killed a motorcyclist, according to an online news report from hillsdale.net.*

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on September 10, 60-year-old Gary Deck, of Pittsford, Michigan, was riding a motorcycle on South Waldron Road in Pittsford Township, Michigan. Near Hudson Road, Deck crashed his motorcycle into the back of a car driven by 77-year-old Christine Logan, of Lafayette, Georgia. 

Deck was transported to Hillsdale Hospital with critical injuries, and he later died of his injuries, according to the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office. It does not appear Logan was injured. Few details have been released regarding the accident at this time. Hillsdale County Sheriff’s deputies, Hudson EMS, the Jefferson Township Fire Department, and the Hudson Fire Department responded to the scene. 

This was the first of two crashes Hillsdale County Sheriff’s deputies responded to that day. The other occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on September 10 on Lake Pleasant Road in Jefferson Township, Michigan. Near Beecher Road, a passenger car and a moped collided. The driver of the moped was ejected and transported to Hillsdale Hospital.

The fatal crash rates in the U.S. are highest when measured both by population (10.3 deaths per every 100,000 people) and by registered vehicles ( 1.24 deaths per every 10,000 registered vehicles). The U.S. also has the fifth-highest rate of motor vehicle deaths based on miles traveled (1.10 deaths per every 100 million miles traveled).
