Woman Dies in Vehicle Collision in Cartersville, Georgia

CARTERSVILLE, GA. – September 9, 2018 ( A woman died from injuries caused by a vehicle collision September 7 in Cartersville, Georgia, according to an online news story published at The crash resulted from a failure to yield on U.S. 41.*

Around 10 a.m. on September 7, a Ford Tempo was traveling southbound on U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville. At the intersection with South Bridge Drive, a Honda Accord failed to yield while making a left turn and turned in front of the Ford Tempo. The Ford Tempo, which was traveling in the right lane of the southbound stretch, struck the passenger’s side of the Honda Accord. 

June Butler, 78, of Adairsville, was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the collision, but it is not clear which vehicle. Butler sustained critical injuries in the crash and tragically died shortly after the collision, according to Georgia State Patrol. 

The driver of the Honda, 52-year-old Sharon Bryson, was transported to Cartersville Medical Center with minor injuries. Her current medical condition has not been reported. The driver of the Ford, 52-year-old Anthony Upton, of Cartersville, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. His current medical condition is also not known. 

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation of the accident, and no additional information has been released at this time. It is not clear why Bryson failed to yield at the intersection. The results of the Georgia State Patrol report will determine whether any charges are filed in connection with the accident and Butler’s death.
