2-Year-Old Child Ejected from Vehicle in Collision with Bryan County School Bus

BRYAN COUNTY, GA. – September 4, 2018 (wtoc.com) A 2-year-old child was ejected from a vehicle after it collided with a Bryan County school bus, according to an online news report from wtoc.com.*

The collision occurred in the afternoon on September 4 on Highway 17 in Bryan County, Georgia. Georgia State Patrol indicates a school bus collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe, and a 2-year-old child in the Hyundai was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. It is not clear how the accident occurred or where on Highway 17 the accident occurred. 

Georgia State Patrol reports that the child might not have been properly restrained in a car seat. Thankfully, officials believe the child’s injuries are non-life threatening. It is not clear whether anyone else in the Hyundai was injured, but a spokesperson with the Bryan County School system says none of the children on the bus was injured. No one involved in the crash has been identified at this time. 

The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Public Safety, Bryan County Emergency Services, and the Bryan County School System are all investigating the collision and have not released additional information at this time. 

Bryan County is located in the southeastern portion of the state of Georgia. According to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the number of vehicle accidents in Bryan County has increased during the last several years. A total of 937 vehicle accidents occurred in the county in 2016, compared to 287 in 2012. The 2016 accidents resulted in 275 injuries and 13 fatalities.
