September 06, 2018

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC. – September 4, 2018 (wtoc.com) According to an online news story from wtoc.com, a 26-year-old man from Georgia and his girlfriend were killed September 2 in a head-on vehicle collision in Kershaw County, South Carolina.*

At approximately 6 a.m. on September 2, 26-year-old Nicholas Kicklighter, of Jefferson, Georgia, and 27-year-old Jennalee Hodge, of Sarasota, Florida, were on their way to work at Dunkin’ Donuts off of Clemson Road in Kershaw County. They were driving on Fort Jackson Road when a Ford SUV crashed into them head-on. South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver of the Ford SUV, who has not been identified, had been traveling in the wrong lane for an undetermined period of time prior to the crash.

Both Kicklighter and Hodge died at the scene. The driver of the Ford was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. His current medical condition is not known. Upon medical release, it is anticipated he will be transferred into police custody. No criminal charges have been announced at this time.

Coworkers of the young couple are coping with their grief and remembering the love the two had for each other, the life they brought to their jobs, and the dreams they had for the future.

“It’s hard because you’re so close, really the situation that wish it didn’t occur,” said Daqun Witherspoon, an employee at the Dunkin’ Donuts where Kicklighter and Hodge worked. “But you got to really make the best out of it.”

Regional manager Jasper Cureton said Kicklighter and Hodge had been planning to move onto a houseboat and explore the country together. Families of the two have planned services in Georgia and Florida for loved ones to attend.
