Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Flowery Branch, GA, Crash

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA. – August 30, 2018 (gainesvilletimes.com) According to an online news report from gainesvilletimes.com, a motorcyclist was seriously injured August 30 after a vehicle crash in Flowery Branch, Georgia.*

On the morning of August 30, 62-year-old Bruce Erskine, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, was riding a 1999 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle southbound on Cash Road in Flowery Branch. Erskine crossed the centerline of the roadway, according to Georgia State Patrol, and crashed into a northbound Kia Optima. Troopers say the left side of the motorcycle struck the left side of the Kia. The motorcycle overturned and came to a rest in the northbound lane of the road.

Erskine was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. His current medical condition is not known. The driver of the Kia, 56-year-old Andrew Seibert, of Flowery Branch, was not injured in the accident. 

Georgia State Patrol is investigating and has not yet released additional information. Troopers do not anticipate any charges will be filed. 

Flowery Branch is located in Hall County in the northern part of the state of Georgia. The county has an estimated population of nearly 197,000, and its major roadways include Interstate 985, U.S. Route 23, and U.S. Route 129. 

Vehicle accidents in Hall County have steadily risen during the last several years, according to information compiled by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. In 2012, a total of 5,205 vehicle accidents occurred in the county, which resulted in 1,351 injuries and 26 deaths. Four of the fatality accidents that year involved motorcyclists. In 2016, the total number of accidents rose to 7,026, leading to 1,581 injuries and 31 deaths. Again, four of the fatality accidents that year involved motorcyclists.
