Atlanta Man Seriously Injured in Scooter Accident in Indonesia

September 08, 2018

BALI, INDONESIA – September 4, 2018 ( As reported online by, a man originally from the Atlanta metro area was seriously injured in a scooter accident while vacationing in Indonesia.

Michael Lythcott, a native of Atlanta who currently lives in New York, was vacationing with a friend in Bali, Indonesia, and the two were riding on a motor scooter when they were involved in a serious accident. It is not clear what caused the accident, but Lythcott later said he thought it might have been related to aftershocks from a nearby earthquake.

After impact, Lythcott regained consciousness and realized he was precariously located on an inclined hill and was badly injured. Unsure how to reach help, he typed out a post on Facebook to let people know what happened. Friends on the social media site immediately asked for information about where he was, and someone summoned emergency response.

Lythcott sustained a fractured skill, collapsed lung, internal bleeding, and a broken wrist. His friend, Stacey Eno, sustained a broken arm, broken cheekbones, and broken nose. Lythcott says he was released from a hospital in Indonesia September 4 and plans to return to the United States as soon as September 14.

In the meantime, family and friends have created a GoFundMe page for both Lythcott and Eno to raise funds for their hospital stays, medical treatments, physical therapy, and a place to live until they are stable enough to return home. The page says funds for Lythcott are especially needed so he can start physical therapy and return to the United States. Lythcott is a graduate of Cross Keys High School and Georgia State University.
