UPDATE: Victim Identified in Fatal Webster County, GA, Crash

WESTON, GA. – September 3, 2018 (wrbl.com) The woman killed a serious vehicle collision August 31 in Webster County, Georgia, has now been identified, according to an online news story from wrbl.com.*

The crash occurred on the morning of August 31 on Ga. 520 in Weston, Georgia. Near the Chevron station, two vehicles collided. Georgia State Patrol says the cause of the crash was following too closely. The vehicle that was struck had five people inside, all of whom were ejected. The driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Agueva Frometa (city not reported), died at the scene. The other four occupants, none of whom has been identified, were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. 

The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. As of September 4, all four surviving victims of the crash remained hospitalized. 

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the collision and has not yet released additional information. It is not clear whether anyone will be cited or charged in connection with the accident. 

Webster County is located in the southwestern portion of the state of Georgia. It has an estimated population of about 2,600, and U.S. Route 280 is one of its major roadways. Webster County has few annual vehicle accidents, according to information from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. 

In 2012, only 20 vehicle accidents occurred in Webster County. These accidents led to nine injuries, but none of the accidents was fatal. By 2016, the number of accidents in Webster County more than doubled but was still low compared to the rest of the state. That year, 42 accidents occurred, leading to 22 injuries and two deaths.
