Gainesville Crash Leaves One Dead, One Seriously Injured

GAINESVILLE, GA. – September 1, 2018 ( According to an online news report from, one person is dead and another is seriously injured after a vehicle accident September 1 in Gainesville, Georgia.*

The accident occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. on September 1 on Jaemor Farms and Ga. 365 in Gainesville. A 2003 Honda Accord was exiting Jaemor Farms onto Ga. 365 and was struck by a northbound 2006 Lexus. 

The driver of the Honda, 78-year-old Laura Bond, of Gainesville, tragically died at the scene. A passenger in the Honda, 82-year-old Henry Bond, of Gainesville, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current medical condition is not known. The driver of the Lexus, who has not been identified, reportedly sustained minor injuries. Whether he or she required any medical treatment is not clear.  

The cause of the accident was not reported, but Georgia State Patrol said no one would be charged. Authorities are continuing to investigate and have not released additional information at this time. 

Gainesville is located in Hall County in the northern part of the state of Georgia. The county has an estimated population of nearly 197,000, and its major roadways include Interstate 985, U.S. Route 23, and U.S. Route 129. 

Vehicle accidents in Hall County have steadily risen during the last several years, according to information compiled by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. In 2012, a total of 5,205 vehicle accidents occurred in the county, which resulted in 1,351 injuries and 26 deaths. In 2016, the total number of accidents rose to 7,026, leading to 1,581 injuries and 31 deaths.
