Chain Reaction Car Crash Pins Woman Between Car and Gas Pumps

ATLANTA, GA— A 61-year-old woman barely survived a chain reaction auto collision that pinned her body between her car and a gas pump. Several children were in the vehicle into which the woman was pumping gas at the time of the crash according to accident transpired Monday, August 20, 2018, in Lithonia, located in DeKalb County. The unidentified victim remains in critical condition after suffering severe, life-threatening injuries.*

The incident happened Monday evening at the Circle K gas station and convenience store located in DeKalb County at the intersection of Evans Mill Road and Covington Highway. The police did not initially indicate the time that the crash happened.

Witnesses say that they were in the convenience store when they heard a noise. They saw a gray car speeding into the parking lot. The witnesses said that they did not hear any braking or screechingof the tires. 

The chain reaction accident began.  The gray car rammed into a pickup truck, which hit a sports utility vehicle, which hit the woman’s car. The woman’s car pinned the woman against the pumps. The witnesses also said several people jumped out of the woman’s car whom they believed to be juveniles. Police would later determine that they were the grandchildren of the injured woman. 

Police have not released the woman’s name, nor any of the other names of the people involved, including the name of the driver who flew into the gas station lot in an out-of-control manner. The police did not discuss whether any other person suffered any injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police have not publicly stated any reasons why the driver of the car was speeding into the lot, nor have they indicated whether any criminal charges mightissue as a result of the incident.
