Three People Seriously Injured in Cobb County, Georgia Collision

COBB COUNTY, GA— According to the Cobb County Currier, Cobb County Police Officers began an investigation into a head-on collision that sent three people to the hospital. Each person is fighting for their lives. The head-on crash happened on August 19, 2018, at approximately 8:15 p.m. on White Road in South Cobb, just south of Factory Shoals Road. Cobb County officers have requested the public’s help in gathering additional information.*

The investigation conducted by the Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit (STEP) has thus far revealed that Jonathan Redd, 18 of Cedartown, traveled southerly in 1 white 2000 Ford Ranger on White Road just before the accident. He passenger named Kaitlyn Arnold. Ms. Arnold is 17 and hails from Douglasville. The initial police report indicates that rain fell heavily at the time. In the area of Factory Shoals Road, Redd lost control over his pickup truck and crossed the center line. Redd drove his vehicle into oncoming traffic and slammed into the 2012 Audi A5 operated by Simone Myles, 50, from Mableton. 

The force of the collision threw Redd out of his truck when the vehicle rolled over. He suffered very seriousinjuries. Rescue units transported him to Grady Memorial Hospital. Additionally, Arnold was also seriously hurt. She went to Atlanta Medical Center. Myles received treatment at Grady Memorial Hospital as well. 

Cobb County Police have asked that anyone with any information about the accident come forward to speak with them. This was a very serious accident, andthe department’s STEP unit will try to reconstruct how the accident happened and why. Accident reconstruction units can measure the speed of the vehicles at impact and whether the atmospheric conditions contributed to the crash.

Cobb County police have not said whether they have charged Redd with any motor vehicle crimes.
