UPDATE: Trucker Involved in Illinois Crash from Kingsland, Georgia

NAPERVILLE, IL. – August 20, 2018 ( The truck driver who caused an August 19 crash in Illinois that injured an 11-year-old child is reportedly from Kingsland, Georgia, according to an online report from*

The crash occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. on August 19 on Interstate 88 in Naperville, Illinois. A press release from Illinois State Police said a semi-truck driver, who has still not been identified, was traveling eastbound on the I-88 expressway and failed to brake for slowed traffic near mile marker 123. The semi-truck crashed into the back of a Nissan, which started a chain reaction collision involving a Lexus and a Chevrolet — the Nissan rear-ended the Lexus, and the Lexus rear-ended the Chevrolet. 

The 47-year-old driver of the Nissan and two passengers in the Nissan, a 45-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy, were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois. The 11-year-old boy was reportedly seriously injured in the crash. His current condition was not reported. The extent of the others’ injuries and their current conditions are not known. 

Drivers and passengers in the Lexus and Chevrolet were also transported to nearby medical facilities, according to police. The extent of their injuries and current conditions were also not released. The driver of the semi-truck was reportedly not injured, and updated information indicates he is 47 years old and from Kingsland, Georgia.   

Illinois State Police are continuing to investigate and have not yet released additional information. It is not clear why the semi-truck driver failed to timely brake or whether he will be cited or charged in connection with the accident.
