Three Injured, Including Two Teenagers, In Rainy Cobb County Wreck

August 21, 2018

MABLETON, GA. – August 20, 2018 ( Three people were injured August 19, including two teenagers, in a vehicle wreck in Cobb County, according to an online news story from Rainy weather reportedly contributed to the crash.*

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on August 19, 18-year-old Jonathan R. Redd, of Cedartown, Georgia, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger southbound on White Road in Cobb County. Near the area of Factory Shoals Road, Redd lost control of the truck, crossed the centerline of the road, and crashed into a northbound 2012 Audi A5.

The Ford Ranger flipped over, ejecting Redd from the vehicle. Redd and a passenger in the Ranger, 17-year-old Kaitlyn Arnold, of Douglasville, Georgia, were transported to Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries. Their current medical conditions are not known.

The driver of the Audi, 50-year-old Simone Myles, of Mableton, Georgia, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with injuries. The extent of her injuries and her current medical condition are not known.

At the time of the crash, it was raining heavily in the area, which could have contributed to the loss of control by Redd. However, Cobb County authorities have also indicated that “excessive speed” was a factor in the crash. Police say charges are anticipated against Redd, pending the outcome of their investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
