72-Year-Old Milledgeville Woman Dies in Vehicle Wreck

August 15, 2018

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA. – August 15, 2018 (unionrecorder.com) A 72-year-old woman from Milledgeville, Georgia, was killed in a vehicle accident August 10, according to an online news report from unionrecorder.com.*

The collision occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on August 10 at the intersection of North Columbia Street and Log Cabin Road in Milledgeville. Based on witness reports, it appears 72-year-old Doris Bolston, of Milledgeville, was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata GL/GLS southbound on North Columbia Street and attempted to make a left turn onto Log Cabin Road. She pulled in front of a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer traveling northbound on North Columbia Street. The two vehicles then collided.

According to a report by the Milledgeville Police Department, Bolston sustained a compound open fracture to her left leg and was treated at the scene by firefighters and first responders from the Milledgeville Fire Department, Grady Emergency Medical Services, and Putnam County EMS. She was conscious but could not tell officers what happened. She was then transported to The Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia, where she reportedly died of her injuries at approximately 1 a.m. on August 11.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 26-year-old Shaquana Cole, of Eatonton, Georgia, told emergency responders she had pain in her neck and left lower abdomen. She was treated at the scene, then transported to Navicent Health Baldwin Hospital in Milledgeville. Her current medical condition is not known.

A witness told Milledgeville police officers that the traffic light was green for Cole, and Cole tried to avoid the collision but was not able to do so. Traffic was backed up around the area for about an hour as crews cleared the scene.
