4-Year-Old Granddaughter of Paulding County Sheriff’s Officer Killed in Car Wreck

August 21, 2018

PAULDING COUNTY, GA. – ( The 4-year-old granddaughter of a Paulding County Sheriff’s detention officer was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident according to an online news report from*

Haley Borders Sell was driving on Ga. 101 South in Paulding County, Georgia, when her vehicle was hit from behind by a truck. The driver of the truck, 20-year-old Tyler Arron Taylor, of Dallas, told Georgia State Patrol Troopers he was “distracted” prior to the crash. The Georgia State Patrol report says, “[Taylor] stated that he dropped a bottle and his phone in the floor of the vehicle. [Taylor] stated that he was leaning down to pick up the items when he noticed [the other vehicle] stopped.”

Taylor reportedly tried to stop before hitting Sell’s vehicle but was not able to in time. Sell’s 4-year-old daughter, who was in the vehicle at the time of the collision, died from her injuries. Sell said she tried to perform CPR on her daughter, but she died almost instantly in the crash. Sell has three other small children, and it is not clear how many were in the vehicle with her at the time.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral expenses and medical expenses. The girl’s name has been released but withheld from this story for privacy reasons. On the GoFundMe page, Sell said the family is heartbroken and that this incident “has been a nightmare that I just want to wake from.” She said her car is totaled and she is “banged up pretty bad” herself.

The worst part, she wrote, is “I’m planning a funeral instead of a trolls birthday party for my sweet beautiful baby girl.”

Paulding County authorities are investigating the collision and have not released additional information at this time.
