GA State Patrol Looking for Driver Involved in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run

August 24, 2018

WALKER COUNTY, GA. – (wrcbtv.com) The Georgia State Patrol is searching for a driver involved in a pedestrian hit-and-run accident in Walker County, Georgia, according to an online news report from wrcbtv.com.*

A woman was jogging with her dog on South Burnt Mill Road in Walker County. Near Gilbert Elementary School, a small truck crossed the centerline of the roadway, drove into the shoulder of the road, and hit the woman and her dog. The driver of the truck then fled the scene.

The woman, who has not been identified, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. She has reportedly since been released from the hospital. Her dog, a black lab, died as a result of the collision.

Georgia State Patrol Troopers are investigating the collision and have not yet located the driver. They do not know what caused the driver to cross the centerline and drive into the opposite shoulder of the roadway. They are still on the hunt for the driver of the truck and are asking for the public’s help in locating the truck or the driver.

The woman described the truck as small and imported, possibly an Isuzu or Nissan, in gray or dark gray color. She said it appeared to be an older model, not in excellent condition. She believes it had a Georgia tag that might be improperly displayed and might have an altered suspension. The truck was low to the ground, she said.

Troopers are encouraging anyone who has information about the truck or the driver to call Troop A Communications at (770) 387-3701.
