Father and Daughter Killed in Albany Vehicle Wreck

ALBANY, GA. – ( According to an online news report from, the victims of a double-fatality wreck in Albany, Georgia, have now been identified. The two were father and daughter.*

64-year-old Aubrey David Roberson and his daughter, 30-year-old Catherine Roberson, both of Sylacauga, Alabama, were traveling on the Liberty Bypass in Albany. An Albany city worker, who reportedly witnessed the incident, told the Albany Police Department that the Robersons’ 2000 Dodge Dakota exited the Liberty Bypass ramp at Clark Avenue, crossed Clark Avenue, jumped the curb, traveled down a ditch, and struck an embankment. 

Both were not wearing seat belts, and sadly died in the collision, according to officials. Preliminary investigation indicates the two were traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, as navigation found in the vehicle was set to this destination. It is not clear what caused the collision to occur. It does not appear any other vehicles were involved. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have not released additional information at this time. 

Albany is located in Dougherty County in the southern part of the state of Georgia. The county has an estimated population of 90,000, and its major roadways include U.S. Route 18 and U.S. Route 82.

Data from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety shows a total of 3,746 vehicle accidents occurred in Dougherty County in 2016. These accidents resulted in 956 injuries and 20 fatalities. This was the highest number of fatalities during a five-year period. Four of the people killed in vehicle accidents that year were not wearing seat belts.
