Georgia Truck Driver Involved in Fatal Tennessee Vehicle Wreck

August 19, 2018

CALHOUN, TN – August 10, 2018 (newschannel9.com) According to an online news report from newschannel9.com, a truck driver from Georgia was involved in a vehicle accident August 9 in Tennessee that resulted in the death of one man.*

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the accident occurred late in the evening on August 9 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 11 and State Highway 163 in Calhoun, Tennessee. A tractor-trailer was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection, and a passenger vehicle ran into the back of the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, who has not been identified but is reportedly from Dawsonville, Georgia, was reportedly injured. It is not clear, however, whether he or she was transported anywhere for treatment. The extent of injuries is not known.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, 54-year-old Danny Davis, of Cleveland, Tennessee, sadly died on the scene. The accident report says Davis was not wearing a seat belt, but that a seat belt would not have made a difference in the outcome of the crash. Davis was reportedly speeding before the impact. Authorities have informed next-of-kin and are ordering an alcohol and drug test.

The crash is currently still under investigation, and no additional information has been released at this time.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, more than 34,000 fatal vehicle crashes occurred in the United States in 2016. The Institute broke down state vehicle fatalities, measuring by population and miles traveled. Tennessee’s 2016 motor vehicle fatality numbers were 15.7 per 100,000 people and 1.34 per every 100 million miles traveled in the state.
