Two Young Georgia Residents Among Eight Injured in Car Wrecks
Joplin, MO- Two Georgia girls, aged 8 and 9, were among eight people injured in several car accidents in Missouri over the past weekend, according to the Joplin Globe.The emergency medical services personnel who attended to the victims at the scene described the girls' injuries as minor. No criminal charges stemmed from the crash at this point.*
Missouri Highway Patrol officers investigated the wreck that occurred on Interstate 49 a short distance from Carthage, MO. The accident happened when 39-year-old Daniel Cantrell of Garfield, Arkansas rear-ended the vehicle driven by Vu Vo, 43, of Morrow, Georgia. Vo's two passengers, 8-year-old Catlinh Vo, and 9-year-old Cattian Vo, also of Morrow, suffered injuries in the crash. Ambulance personnel took the youngsters to Mercy Hospital in Carthage for treatment of their injuries. Cantrell went to Mercy Hospital located in Joplin for treatment. The news article did not describe the nature of the injuries.
Missouri Highway Patrol officers determined that Cantrell, who was driving northerly on Interstate 49, collided with the rear-end the other car driven by Vo, who was driving in the same direction. Cantrell hit Vo when Vo slowed down while entering a construction zone. Vu Vo reportedly did not suffer any injuries in the collision.
The article did not indicate whether Highway Patrol cited Cantrell for any motor vehicle infractions.
Also in Missouri, a 19-year-old man was hurt in a single car crash. The driver overcorrected at least twice before going off of the road and into a ditchwhen the car flipped. He suffered minor injuries.
Another Missouri man suffered substantial personal injuries in a single-vehicle wreck. The man was operating his motorcycle when the bike left the road, struck a sign, and then went into a ditch.
Two other people suffered minor injuries when they were hit from behind while at a stop sign. Another person suffered injuries when she tried to pass a line of cars and struck a man turning left. None of the injuries are life-threatening.
