Family Air-Lifted to Trauma Center After Frightening Accident

Kokomo, Indiana - A Georgia big-rig driver crashed into a mini-van Kokomo, Indiana according to The mini-van carried a 41-year-old woman and her three small children. All four needed to be air-lifted to a local trauma center where they remain in critical condition.*

Kokomo Police officers received a dispatch to 931 and 300 North for an accident involving personal injuries. Upon their arrival at the crash scene, officers saw that a tractor-trailer combination vehicle driven by 61-year-old George L. Brent, hailing from McDonough, GA struck the back of a mini-van. The driver of the mini-van was 44-year-old Lisa Miller from Kokomo, Indiana. 

Officers are unsure how the crash happened, and the Kokomo Police department has assigned an accident reconstruction specialist to analyze the crash. Officers do know that the semi-truck slammed into the rear of the van and pushed it to the opposing side of the intersection at which this accident occurred. The four occupants of the vanrequired med-flight transport to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana for treatment. They remain hospitalized.

Two additional motorists suffered injuries in the crash.  Kylie Poe, who is 25 from Sharpsville, Indiana, was driving a Jeep Liberty that was involved in the incident. Additionally, 71-year-old Larry Clark from Kokomo who was operating a Honda Odyssey crashed as well. Both of these drivers went to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police are looking to obtain information from witnesses to theaccident and have asked that anyone who has information about this horrible crash to call the department to speakwith the accident reconstruction officer. Kokomo police have not levied any charges at this time. However, the news report notes that the police officers have not ruled out intoxication as a reason for the crash.
