Pedestrian Killed in Kennesaw, Georgia at the intersection of Kennesaw Due West Road

Kennesaw, GA- A pedestrian died in after being run down according to the Kennesaw Patch. Local law enforcement and other emergency responders received an urgent call for service regarding the incident around 9:55 p.m. The police noted that the collision occurred on Stilesboro Road at the intersection of Kennesaw Due West Road.*

Cobb County Police conducted a preliminary investigation into the accident. The initial inquiry revealed that the 61-year-old pedestrian Rachaelle L. Richardson of Kennesaw stepped into the path of an oncoming Toyota Camry. The Camry was headed easterly on Stilesboro Road when it struck the pedestrian. The driver of the Camry, 20-year-old Carson P. Vaughn of Marietta did not receive any injuries from the accident. Emergency medical personnel pronounced Richardson deceased at the crash site.

Police do not understand at this time why the woman stepped into the road. Cobb County Police have asked for assistance in unraveling the mystery of why the woman walked out in front of a moving car. Police did not say whether she was suicidal or under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

Cobb County police did not reveal any information regarding the status of the driver. They did not say whether he was operating under the influence, or whether he was driving safely at the time of the crash. The police did not say whether the headlightswere operational on his car. These are all factors into which the police must delve to complete their investigation. The article did not mention if police arrested Vaughn or plan on issuing criminal charges. Based on the officers' preliminary investigation, it appears that Vaughn had almost no chance of avoiding a collision with Richardson.
