‘Yellow Dot Program’ Coming to Augusta, Georgia

August 10, 2018

AUGUSTA, GA. – August 6, 2018 (wtoc.com) According to an online news story from wtoc.com, the “Yellow Dot Program” is coming to Augusta, Georgia. The program is designed to alert emergency responders to important medical information about victims.*

The Yellow Dot Program is free to participants and helps emergency responders provide vital care to patients with certain medical conditions. Participants receive round yellow decals with a peach on them. The decals are to be placed on people’s vehicle windows or at the entrances to their homes. When emergency responders see the Yellow Dots, they know life-saving information can be found inside the victim’s glove compartment or inside the freezer of the home.

The first hour after a crash or medical emergency is critical and often referred to as the “golden hour.” Emergency workers need all important information that will help them render life-saving care to victims, but victims and witnesses are not always able to provide that information. The Yellow Dot Program facilitates the flow of this information effectively and efficiently.

Yellow Dot kits will be available throughout Augusta and Richmond County at fire departments and other named locations. The Augusta Commission Chambers will soon hold a press conference to provide additional details to the public about the program, including where people can pick up their kits.

The Yellow Dot Program in Augusta is the result of a collaboration with the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services, Leadership of Age-Friendly Augusta, the Georgia Department of Public Health, the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Augusta Fire Department, the Richmond County Marshal’s Office, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. More information about the program can be found at aging.georgia.gov.
