Single Car Accident Claims the Life of Montgomery Woman

Ft. Mitchell, AL- reports that a woman from Montgomery, AL died in a single car crash in the town of Fort Mitchell. Police have now identified that woman as 53-year-old Kelly Via. The fatal accident happened around noon on August 2, 2018, near 177 Bradley Road in Fort Mitchell. Officers are still trying to unravel the factswhich caused this fatal car wreck.*

The first reports from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state that Ms. Via’s vehicle left the roadway and slammed into a tree. Rescuers arrived on scene and transported her to Piedmont Medical Center located in Columbus, GA. Unfortunately, Ms. Via succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Police did not issue the name of the woman to the media initially because they had not notified her next of kin. Police wereable to name the woman after they made the appropriate notifications.

Police have not given any indication as to why Ms. Via’s car left the road and hit a tree. A photo taken of the crash site shows a two-lane road divided by double yellow lines. A ditch may be seen running just off of the pavement. News footage from the scene shows a white mangled pickup truck. The roof of the pickup was on the ground, separated from the truck, perhaps removed by first responders. From the photos and video footage, it appears that the truckwent into the ditch off of the road and flipped on its hood or rolled into the tree.
