August 03, 2018

BARNSTABLE, MA- reports that a new father and veteran Marine, 32-year-old Kevin Quinn, was killed in a traffic accident on his wayback from seeing his newborn daughter and his wife in the hospital.*

The collision occurred after 12 a.m. when a 22-year-old man in a 2000 Toyota sedan veered across the center line and crashed head-on into thenew father’s 2012 GMC SUV. Quinn was a first-time father who had just been with his 3-day-old daughter, Logan Audrey, and his wife Kara and was planning on returning to the hospital to bring them home later on Saturday.

The man driving the Toyota was identified as Mickey Rivera, and at the time of the collision, he was being chased by police. When emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash,Rivera’s car was “torn in half.” Rivera and a passenger, 24-year-old Jocelyn Goyette were both thrown from the Toyota in the collision. Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene. Goyette was transported to the hospital. She was in critical condition.

Rescuers attempted to save Quinn and required the Jaws of Life to get the veteran out of his vehicle. Quinn was rushed to South Shore Hospital but was declared dead.

Rivera had a court date scheduled for Tuesday in relation to a 2015 murder of a 20-year-old man. Rivera had been released on bail. The reason for the police chase was not reported.

Friends of Quinn started a GoFundMe page in his honor. The page described Quinn as a former combat marine, who had been deployed in Afghanistan twice. They said he was excited but nervous about becoming a new father. By Tuesday morning, in just two days, the page raised over $232,000.
