August 01, 2018

MARIETTA, GA. – July 26, 2018 (11alive.com) A teenager who was seriously injured after falling out of a moving car in Cobb County, Georgia, has now tragically died from her injuries, according to an online article from 11alive.com*

Officers with the Cobb County Police Department say 18-year-old Alyssa Prindle, of Marietta, was riding in a silver 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe that was traveling northbound on Johnson Ferry Road July 5 in Marietta. Prindle was in the back seat and rolled down the back left window then hung out the window “yelling and screaming,” according to police. She ended up falling out of the window while the vehicle was still moving and hit the pavement.

Prindle suffered a fractured skull and fractured spine and was unconscious at the time emergency responders arrived. She was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and was admitted to the intensive care unit. According to updated reports, Prindle has died of her injuries, after spending 20 days in the hospital.

At the time of the incident, police reported that underage consumption of alcohol was a factor in the incident and arrested the driver of the vehicle, 17-year-old Abigail Cook, of Marietta. She was booked into the Cobb County Jail and charged with underage driving under the influence, reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, underage possession of alcohol, possession of false identification, and violation of a class D driver’s license hours restrictions.

On July 26, Cobb County Police Department Sgt. Wayne Delk said officials had not yet made a determination about whether the charges against Cook would be amended in light of Prindle’s death. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.
