August 05, 2018

One Georgia Man Seriously Hurt While Another Involved in Scary Tractor-Trailer Crash Escaped without Injury

TRENTON, MO- A Georgia tractor-trailer driver was fortunate to walk away from a frightening three-vehicle accident in Trenton, MO. The accident occurred Monday, July 30, 2018, in the afternoon according to, a short distance west of Trenton, MO in Grundy County. Two other men suffered varying degrees of injuries and required medical treatment.*

The wreck happened around 2:45 p.m. three miles west of Trenton, MO. Grundy County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene of the three-vehicle crash along with the Grundy County Ambulance Service. Missouri Highway Patrol also responded to the crash and began an investigation.

Law enforcement investigators learned from a preliminary review of the accident scene and witness statements that a 25-year-old Trenton, MO man heading eastbound on Highway 6 crossed over the center line and struck the trailer of a Freightliner headed west operated by 62-year-old David Woodward of Waco, Georgia. After hitting the tractor-trailer, the car spun out of control in the westbound lane where it struck the sports utility vehicle driven by Herbert Lamb, 70, of Cleveland, Georgia.

Mr. Lamb suffered serious injuries in the head-on crash. Grundy County Ambulance Service transported Mr. Lamb to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton. Mr. Lamb's condition is not immediately known. The driver who lost control over his car did not request an ambulance ride. However, he did seek transportation to the hospital in another's car. The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured. All three drivers wore seatbelts, which likely saved at least one person's life if not two people's lives.

The passenger vehicle and the sports utility vehicle were destroyed in the violent crash. The trailer of the Freightliner received minor damage and could be driven away from the area.

Police have not stated their theory as to why the 25-year-old driver crossed over the center line of Highway 6. The cause of the crash will not be known for some time. No criminal charges or civil infractions have been issued to this point by the investigating officers.
