Georgia Family Asking for Help From Community After Son’s Accident
CAMDEN COUNTY, GA. – July 23, 2018 (firstcoastnews.com) A family in Camden County, Georgia, is asking for help from the community after a vehicle accident seriously injured their young son. The story is found on firstcoastnews.com.*
Earlier in July, 14-year-old Camden Lang was riding in a golf cart around his neighborhood in Camden County. The cart ran out of power, so he was walking outside of the cart, pushing it back home. As he was pushing the golf cart, a vehicle struck Camden from behind, causing him to break both his legs and his back.
Camden is still in the hospital recovering, and his recovery will not stop upon discharge. His family has been working to make arrangements for him at home, and they are starting to worry about how they will finance his new needs. Camden’s father, Mark Lang, said the family is trying to build a wheel chair ramp, convert a downstairs room into a bedroom, and create a wheelchair accessible bathroom on that floor for Camden to use. The costs to just get their house ready for Camden’s return are starting to add up in front of them.
“He may have a year [of] recovery ahead of him,” Mark said. “We’re not sure when he’ll be able to try and think about stairs, but it won’t be anytime soon. We don’t have paint to paint with, we don’t have drywall to be hung up, and we don’t have two-by-fours to frame.”
The family has created a Venmo account under the name Mark Lang, and they are in the process of creating a GoFundMe account. They are hoping to spread the word for people to give anything possible to help their son.
