Police Identify Victim of Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accident in Bulloch County

BULLOCH COUNTY, GA. – July 23, 2018 (statesboroherald.com) According to an online news report from statesboroherald.com, the victim of a deadly hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Bulloch County, Georgia, has now been identified.*

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on July 19, a vehicle struck Jennifer Bolton (age not provided) on Lanier Drive near the Ellis Apartments in Bulloch County. Bolton was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

The driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Jazmond Darrell Durden, drove a short distance away from the site of the collision, then abandoned her vehicle, a tan Chevrolet Impala. Authorities located Durden the same day and placed her under arrest. She was booked into the Bullock County Jail and has been charged with felony homicide by vehicle in the first degree, driving under the influence, hit-and-run, issuing false statements/writings, and concealing facts. 

Bulloch County Deputy Coroner Craig Tremble said Bolton lived on Lanier Driver but had a family in Reidsville, Georgia. 

Investigation by Georgia State Patrol is ongoing, and no additional details are available at this time. Anyone with potential information about the incident is encouraged to call Georgia State Patrol Post 45 at (912) 688-6999.

In 2016, Bulloch County was the site of 2,384 vehicle accidents, according to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. These accidents resulted in injuries to 600 people and in the deaths of 18 people. None of the fatality accidents that year involved a pedestrian, but one involved a bicyclist. Three of the fatality accidents were related to alcohol consumption, and two involved speeding.
