Pennsylvania Worker Electrocuted When Lift Runs into Power Line

July 26, 2018

MOUNTAIN TOP, PA. – July 21, 2018 (macon.com) According to an online news report from macon.com, a construction worker in Pennsylvania was electrocuted July 20 when a lift ran into a power line in an industrial park.*

At approximately 10 a.m. on July 20, 43-year-old Jason Evans, of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, was working at the Crestwood Industrial Park in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. Evans was a roofing contractor on a job for East Coast Logistics & Distribution Inc. He was placing roofing material onto the roof of a building from the ground when his construction lift ran into a power line.

The boom of the lift reportedly came into contact with a high-tension power line, which caused the lift to catch fire. Evans was electrocuted and fell to the ground. He was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is launching an investigation into the incident to determine what happened and whether anyone should be fined. No additional information has been reported at this time.

An obituary says Jason “Cakes” Evans was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penn State University. He was known for his love of wrestling and owned a roofing business with his brother. Evans is described as “a happy man who would always share a smile.” His laugh was “infectious” and will be “remembered by everyone blessed to hear it.”

Evans is survived by his parents and two brothers, all of Clarks Summit. Services are planned for July 25 at Our Lady of the Snows Church in Clarks Summit.
